TOP Server AVEVA InTouch (formerly Wonderware) Client Driver
Reliable OPC client access to AVEVA InTouch project data
The TOP Server® AVEVA InTouch Client Driver provides a native communication interface to AVEVA InTouch (formerly Wonderware) projects with the same level of performance, stability and ease of configuration as any other TOP Server driver.
This product saves you time and money in integrating InTouch systems with other enterprise systems in your facility. By exposing the data in your InTouch system via all of the TOP Server standard client-side interfaces (OPC UA, OPC DA) automatically, unlike other solutions that require manual configuration of each point, you can rapidly gain access to your InTouch data from a wide variety of applications such as MES, ERP, SCADA, Historians & more. For off-node communications OPC UA is recommended to avoid issues with DCOM.
- Driver can poll InTouch for updates or have InTouch advise of changes
- Optional configuration to only get data from InTouch for tags that an OPC UA and/or OPC DA client has subscribed to
- Help includes a section "Optimizing Your InTouch Client Driver Communications" - best practices for maximizing throughput while minimizing impact on InTouch performance.

IMPORTANT NOTES
- Driver is intended for use with AVEVA InTouch (formerly Wonderware) systems prior to InTouch 2023. Starting with InTouch 2023 and newer, max InTouch tag name and description lengths are longer and AVEVA is not updating the InTouch External Database Access (IEDA) Toolkit we use in this driver. AVEVA provides an OPC UA interface with InTouch 2023 and newer. If you need the ability to convert AVEVA's OPC UA interface to OPC DA or other protocols, consider the TOP Server OPC Client Suite or DataHub OPC Gateway
- Because this driver has to access the InTouch WindowViewer, it is required to either run the TOP Server in Interactive Mode (rather than as a service) or to set the TOP Server service to run as a specific user that is the same user InTouch WindowViewer is running as when using the InTouch Client Driver. Get Started Now
The demo is the full product once licensed. Once a client application connects to the TOP Server, the TOP Server runtime will operate for 2 hours at a time. At the end of the 2 hour demo period, the demo timer must be reset by restarting the TOP Server runtime service.
