The Widest Variety of Connectivity Drivers for AVEVA SuiteLink Systems

Native SuiteLink support for AVEVA (formerly Wonderware) software

Software Toolbox has provided AVEVA (formerly Wonderware) users, integrators, OEMs, and channel partners in over 100 countries with best-in-class connectivity solutions since 1996.

With an integrated SuiteLink interface, no OI Gateway or FSGateway is required to get your InTouch, System Platform, Historian, MES and other SuiteLink capable solutions connected to a wide range of additional device types. Connect to TOP Server the same way you would to any native AVEVA OI, DA or IO servers.

TOP Server also supports industry standard OPC DA, OPC UA, OPC A&E interfaces enabling it to integrate other applications at the same time it serves your AVEVA applications.

Detailed application notes and how-to videos for connecting with AVEVA InTouch, Historian, and System Platform (ArchestrA) are available:

How to make sure SuiteLink is available in your TOP Server

To use the SuiteLink interface in TOP Server, make sure you've performed the following:

  1. Either install TOP Server on the same machine as your AVEVA software or insure the AVEVA Common Components (or ArchestrA framework) are already installed on the machine prior to installing TOP Server.
    1. NOTE: TOP Server requires on these third-party AVEVA components for SuiteLink connectivity - they are included with your AVEVA installation media.
  2. Make sure to select the "Wonderware SuiteLink and FastDDE" features under "Native Client Interfaces" when installing TOP Server.

Using SuiteLink or FastDDE with TOP Server

The FastDDE/SuiteLink Settings can be found in the Project Properties in the TOP Server Configuration. Ensure that "Enable FastDDE/SuiteLink connections to the server" is checked/enabled as this interface is disabled by default.

The default "Application Name" is "server_runtime" but can be set to any application name you would like to use when defining your SuiteLink or FastDDE connections in the AVEVA solutions that will be connecting to TOP Server.

The Timing setting allows FastDDE/SuiteLink data to be batched up for transfer to client application - it is important to note that this setting has no relation to how often data is requested from your devices.

Topic update rates determine the device poll rate and are controlled through the Alias Map for non-OPC connections. Click for an Application Note on Understanding how to change your scan rates to the PLC or device.

Still using FastDDE instead of SuiteLink or OPC? Changing the TOP Server Process Mode

Since the optional use legacy FastDDE interface is ultimately based on Microsoft DDE, users requiring that interface instead of SuiteLink or OPC will need to configure TOP Server to run in "Interactive Mode" (the default is running as a Windows service). When using SuiteLink or OPC only, it's best to run TOP Server as a Windows service.

This means that the TOP Server machine will need to have a Windows user logged in to the machine at all times for communications to continue (i.e. if there is no user logged in, communications will cease).

For this reason, if at all possible, it is highly recommended to use SuiteLink instead.

Get Started Now

The demo is the full product once licensed. Once a client application connects to the  TOP Server, the TOP Server runtime will operate for 2 hours at a time. At the end of the 2 hour demo period, the demo timer must be reset by restarting the TOP Server runtime service.
