Cogent DataHub version 11.1 is officially here, and I dug through the release details so you don’t have to. This release brings a few big-ticket additions that are worth paying attention to, especially if you are using DataHub for historian integration, regulated environments, secure OT/IT data sharing, or anything involving AVEVA. Here’s the quick rundown of what matters most.

1. DataHub now Supports AVEVA CONNECT

One of the headline updates in version 11.1 is new support for AVEVA CONNECT through DataHub’s External Historian functionality.

That means DataHub can now write to and read from AVEVA CONNECT, making it easier to move real-time operations data into the AVEVA ecosystem.

For DataHub users, this is a helpful step forward if you are already working with AVEVA tools or looking to make plant-floor data more available to enterprise, cloud, or analytics systems. DataHub has long been useful as a flexible bridge between systems, and this update gives users another strong option for connecting industrial data where it needs to go.

2. Tracking Configuration Changes with the Audit Feature

Version 11.1 also introduces a new Audit feature, and this one is especially useful for teams that need better visibility into what is changing inside DataHub.

The new Audit functionality can monitor and record DataHub configuration changes, including who made a change, what changed, and when it happened.

This was originally developed with highly regulated industries like pharmaceutical manufacturing in mind, where change tracking and accountability are critical. But honestly, this is useful well beyond pharma.

Any team managing production-critical systems can benefit from having a clearer record of configuration activity. Whether you are troubleshooting an issue, reviewing system changes, supporting internal controls, or just trying to understand what happened and when, this gives DataHub users another layer of visibility.

3. UDP Support for Tunnel/Mirroring

Another important addition is UDP support for Tunnel/Mirroring.

This matters for users who need to move OT data out of a secure network while preventing any possibility of write-backs into the control environment. With UDP support, DataHub tunnels can now be compatible with many data diode hardware solutions.

For organizations with strict cybersecurity requirements, this is a big deal. It supports architectures where data can flow one way out of OT and into the systems that need visibility without opening a return path back into the control network.

4. Security Updates

DataHub v11.1 also includes an OpenSSL upgrade to version 3.5.7.

That update addresses known vulnerabilities and continues support for post-quantum ciphers. It may not be the flashiest part of the release, but it is still important, especially for users who care about keeping infrastructure current and reducing security exposure.

5. Fixes & Small Improvements

Beyond the headline items, version 11.1 includes a solid list of fixes and improvements across DataHub and WebView.

A few areas called out in the release notes include OPC UA, OPC Classic HDA, Kafka, MQTT, Remote Config, External Historian behavior, and WebView editing. There are also improvements like IP address whitelisting for anti-spoofing checks, OPC UA synchronous read/write commands for scripts, and metadata support in the MQTT advanced parser.

Upgrading

As usual, we recommend staying current with the latest DataHub release whenever possible. Any version 11.x license is valid for version 11.1, so existing v11 users can upgrade without needing a new license.

To help with that process, we’ve also added DataHub upgrade guidance in jonjon.ai, our industrial connectivity co-pilot built to support controls engineers and automation teams. Instead of starting from scratch, users can get guided upgrade recommendations, best practices, and step-by-step support specific to their DataHub environment.

The chat stays open for follow-up questions, and guidance can be exported or shared so your team is working from the same playbook — whether you are planning ahead or troubleshooting during an off-hours upgrade window.

One more important note: DataHub version 10 has reached end of life. If you are still running v10, now is a good time to start planning your upgrade path.

The Bottom Line

DataHub v11.1 is a meaningful release for users focused on AVEVA integration, configuration traceability, and secure OT data sharing. As always, review the full release notes, back up your configuration, and test updates in a non-production environment when possible. If you have questions about your DataHub upgrade, contact our team and we’ll be happy to help.
