Product Overview

The Rockwell Allen-Bradley Server Ethernet driver works in conjunction with TOP Server to provide data exchange between OPC UA, OPC DA, SuiteLink and DDE clients and Allen-Bradley PLCs that are capable of sending PLC-2 format unsolicited messages.

This driver acts as a simulated Allen-Bradley PLC-2 device allowing unsolicited communications between TOP Server and Allen-Bradley controllers, supporting up to 256 device connections to this simulated device. The functionality allows the server to receive data by exception from an Allen-Bradley PLC capable of PLC-2 Messaging via the Allen-Bradley Ethernet protocol.

In some applications, letting the PLC decide based on data change or other conditions when to send data to the OPC Server offers faster performance than a traditional architecture where the OPC server is polling the PLC.

We offer a similar solution for PLCs using ControlLogix/CIP Ethernet to do the same thing.

This driver does not require a Rockwell Automation RSLinx license.

This driver is available in the following TOP Server driver suites: TOP Server Allen-Bradley Suite, TOP Server Manufacturing Suite.
