Product Overview

The Rockwell Allen-Bradley Micro800 Serial driver works in conjunction with TOP Server® to provide data exchange between OPC UA, OPC DA, AVEVA SuiteLink and DDE clients and Allen-Bradley Micro800 control systems using the Allen-Bradley Rockwell Automation Fragmentation Protocol (CIP over DF1).

Advanced features such as CIP Watchdog and advanced addressing support allow the driver to integrate Micro800 Family systems controlling a range of applications such as compressor and elevator control, materials handling, packaging, and more.

No RSLinx required. This driver does not require a Rockwell Automation RSLinx license or any third-party communications software.

TOP Server also offers a Micro800 Ethernet Driver for EtherNet/IP (CIP) connectivity to the same Micro800 family.

This driver is available individually or as part of the following TOP Server driver suites: TOP Server Allen-Bradley Suite (best value) and TOP Server Manufacturing Suite.

Why Choose This Driver?

Proven benefits for reliable serial connectivity to Allen-Bradley Micro800 controllers

No RSLinx Required

Communicates directly with Micro800 controllers over serial - no Rockwell RSLinx license or third-party software required

Native Tag Addressing

Full support for Global Tags, Program Tags, and Structure Tags including UDT substructure aliasing for clean integration

Performance Optimization

Array element blocking (up to 3840 elements), multi-tag request optimization, and CIP Watchdog for robust operation

Flexible Connectivity

RS-232 Serial Point-to-Point (Full-Duplex) plus Ethernet Encapsulation for reaching Micro800 via terminal/device servers

"We deploy Micro850 controllers across our packaging lines and needed a reliable OPC server without the RSLinx licensing overhead. This driver handles our native tag database cleanly, and the UDT aliasing support made integration with our SCADA straightforward."

Key Features & Benefits

Everything you need for reliable Allen-Bradley Micro800 serial connectivity

Rockwell Fragmentation Protocol (CIP over DF1)

Full support for the Allen-Bradley Rockwell Automation Fragmentation Protocol for native Micro800 connectivity over serial.

Native Tag Addressing

Supports Native Tag Addressing including Global Tags, Program Tags, and Structure Tags with full advanced addressing support.

CIP Watchdog

Specify the amount of time that a connection can remain idle before being closed by the controller for robust connection management.

UDT Substructure Aliasing

User-defined types (UDT) substructure aliasing support simplifies addressing of complex data structures.

Array Element Blocking

Array element blocking support (up to 3,840 elements) for performance-optimized reads of large array tags.

Multi-Tag Request Optimization

Reads and writes to atomic tags are optimized to send multiple tags per request for superior throughput.

Ethernet Encapsulation

Supports Ethernet Encapsulation for reaching Micro800 serial devices via Ethernet/Serial converters or terminal/device servers.

Configurable Error Detection

Configurable Error Detection using either CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) or BCC (Block Check Character) per device requirements.
